Roger Federer wins Wimbledon & captures his 15th Grand Slam title. I guess this answers my June 08 post. Roger Federer has the record and he will go down as the greatest.
The previous Champs were in the Royal box: Laver, Borg, Becker was present by not in the Royal Box and McEnroe was commentating. The stage was set and the match began when Sampras made his appearance to join the other Champs in the Royal Box. This was history in the making regardless the outcome having Tennis greats all under one roof. This was a great match. The match today was another thriller 5–7, 7–6(6), 7–6(5), 3–6, 16–14. Andy Roddick played amazing. Roddick left everything he possibly could on the court. I know that the second set tiebreaker will haunt him. This is when what if come in to play. If he would have won the 2nd set, he would have been up 2-0, could Federer overcome 0-2?
Federer also regained his #1 status with the win. The WTA needs to review their policy and adapt to the ATP. Serena Williams won Wimbledon yesterday, she has 2 of the 3 Grand Slams and she’s still #2. Safina is #1 and she has not won a Grand Slam ever.
Congratulation Roger Federer “The Greatest of All Times.”
