It took Serena Williams a little over an hour to defeat Vera Zvonareva in straight sets 6-3 6-2. In today’s win Serena surpassed Billie Jean King in career Major Titles/Slams. Serena now has 13 Major Titles.
Serena continued her dominance in this tournament especially her serve. Throughout this tournament all of the tennis greats Martina Navratilova to John McEnroe have named Serena the best server in women’s tennis ever. In the match today she had 9 aces and won 94% of her 1st serves, she only lost 3 points on her serve in the final set, and her fastest serve today was 122 mph. Serena had 29 winners to Zvonareva’s 9, she also was 100% at net play 14 out 14.
