EA Sports also teased fans by adding: ‘Stay tuned for the game-changing reveal on July 11th.’

Last year, following the first talks which outlined that Mbappe would now be the main face of the franchise, the Frenchman spoke of his pride at being given the top honour.

He said: ‘Being on the cover of FIFA is a dream come true. From my time at Bondy to Clairefontaine to the World Cup, this marks another big milestone.

‘I’ve been playing this game since I was a kid and I am honored to represent a whole new generation of footballers and be in the same group as many other amazing footballers who I now share this honor with.’

Mbappe will feature on all three editions of FIFA 22, which includes the Standard, Champions and Legends editions of the game.

Previously Real Madrid’s Eden Hazard – who took the cover spot for FIFA 2020 – had been the face of the game after a long period in which living football legend Cristiano Ronaldo fronted the series.

Mbappe, who has made no secret of his idolisation of Ronaldo when he was younger, now follows in the footsteps of his hero.

Mbappe will also feature on the cover of the ‘ultimate edition’ of the game, which provides a host of hidden extras for dedicated fans. The previous cover star on this iteration was French football legend Zinedine Zidane.

Kylian Mbappé Lottin (born 20 December 1998) is a French professional footballer who plays as a forward for Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain and the France national team.

Mbappé began his senior career with Ligue 1 club Monaco, making his professional debut in 2015, aged 16. With them, he won a Ligue 1 title, Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year, and the Golden Boy award. In 2017, he signed for league rivals Paris Saint-Germain on an initial loan, which was made permanent in 2018 in a transfer worth €180 million plus add ons, making him both the second-most expensive player and most expensive teenager.  There, Mbappé won three Ligue 1 titles, three Coupe de France titles, was named Ligue 1 Player of the Year twice, and has finished as Ligue 1 top scorer for three consecutive seasons. He is also the third-highest goalscorer in the club’s history.

At international level, Mbappé made his senior debut for France in 2017, at age 18. At the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Mbappé became the youngest French player to score at a World Cup, and became the second teenager, after Pelé, to score in a World Cup Final. He finished as the joint second-highest goalscorer as France won the tournament, and he received the Best Young Player and French Player of the Year awards for his performances.

EA Sports announced Friday that Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe will be the cover athlete for the FIFA 22 video game.

This marks the second consecutive year that Mbappe has been the cover athlete, as he graced the front of FIFA 21 as well.

The 22-year-old Mbappe is a star forward at PSG who helped lead them to Ligue 1 titles in three straight seasons from 2017-20. He also won a Ligue 1 title with AS Monaco in 2016-17 before joining PSG.

Mbappe has led Ligue 1 in goal scoring each of the past three seasons as well, scoring 33 times in 29 matches in 2018-19, 18 times in 20 matches in 2019-20 and 27 times in 31 matches this past season.

Additionally, the two-time French player of the year is a key part of the French national team, scoring 17 times in 48 appearances for the senior squad.

At just 19 years of age, Mbappe was part of the French team that won the World Cup in 2018.

Mbappe became the youngest French player to score at the World Cup and scored a goal in their World Cup Final win over Croatia. As a result, Mbappe won the FIFA World Cup Best Young Player Award.

Since then, Mbappe has developed into one of the best players in the world, and EA Sports is once again recognizing him as such.

Per FIFPlay.com, FIFA 22 is expected to be released worldwide on Oct. 8 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC Windows, Nintendo Switch and Google Stadia.
