Deion Sanders lands his biggest commitment as Jackson State head coach: His son

Shedeur Sanders, son of the NFL Hall of Famer, announced Friday that he is flipping his commitment from Florida Atlantic to play for his father.

Shedeur Sanders is one of the top high school quarterbacks in the country and he flipped his commitment from Florida Atlantic to attend Jackson State in 2021.

“I couldn’t pass up a opportunity to help level the playing field & pursue equality for HBCU”s ! Dad I got your back!” the quarterback tweeted.

Deion Sanders took the Jackson State job over the summer and is expected to have his first season next year after the 2020 season was put on hold because of the coronavirus pandemic.

2019: As a junior, led Trinity Christian-Cedar Hill to a 13-1 record and a third consecutive Division II state title in the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools.
2018: Led Trinity Christian-Cedar Hil to a 14-0 record and Division II state championship in the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools.

The quarterback clocks in at 6-foot-2, 220 pounds. He played for Trinity Christian School in Cedar Hill, Texas, and made the announcement Friday to play for the Tigers next season. Sanders is one of the highest-ranked prospects to ever attend Jackson State.

Highly productive and a winner with a pair of state championships to his name. Athletic frame, moves well and can extend plays. Does a nice job making that initial pass rusher miss, doesn’t panic and shows poise and calmness in the pocket. Has dual-threat ability and can pick up bug chunks of yards with his legs but doesn’t take off and run as much as you would expect. Has enough arm strength to get the ball down the field and shows nice touch on his deep ball. Can tighten his release a bit but has some solid tools that project well to college. Upside is an impact upper tier Power 5 starter and potential NFL draft pick

He knows what to expect from his dad when he plays for the Tigers. In three seasons, Shedeur Sanders has thrown for nearly 9,000 passing yards and 123 touchdowns. He’s won two state championships in Texas, nationwide he is ranked as the no. 14 pro-style quarterback.

Last season Sanders completed nearly 74 percent of his passes en route to a 3,459 yard season. Sanders racked up 47 touchdowns against four interceptions all year long.

Playing for his father won’t be a totally new experience. The elder Sanders has served as the offensive coordinator for his son’s high school team.

Sanders won two Super Bowl titles and made one World Series appearance in 1992, making him the only athlete to play in both a Super Bowl and a World Series.
