Construction began Wednesday on PopStroke Orlando, a golf and casual dining concept designed by golf legend Tiger Woods and his team.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 13,712-square-foot building, which includes an open-air restaurant with multiple open decks and covered dining areas and bars, is located at 321 N. Alafaya Trail in the Waterford Lakes Town Center. PopStroke Orlando will be the fourth location to open in Florida.<\/strong><\/p>\n

PopStroke will also have a commercial kitchen, covered playground, beer garden and lobby with retail space.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Of course, the concept is centered around golf \u2013 36 holes designed by Woods and his team.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Each PopStroke location features two 18-hole putting locations designed by Tiger Woods and his TGR Design, which also designs full-size courses. Other amenities at each location will include a jumbotron screen with a putting leaderboard, an outdoor gaming area with pingpong and other games, an open-air restaurant, an ice cream parlor and a playground. PopStroke said in a media release announcing the fresh groundbreaking that the golf experience will be designed for players of all skill levels.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Orlando location in Waterford Lakes is one of seven that are scheduled to open in 2022 in Sarasota, Florida; Houston; Salt River\/Scottsdale, Arizona; Glendale, Arizona; Tampa, Florida; and Delray, Florida.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Orlando location is scheduled to open in April and was the second groundbreaking among the list of announced new locations. The Sarasota facility is scheduled to open in March, with the others in line behind that, according to popstroke.com.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cOrlando has long been recognized as one of the premier entertainment destinations in the world and a natural fit for PopStroke\u2019s continued expansion,\u201d company founder Greg Bartoli said in the media release. \u201cWe look forward to being a part of such an exciting and rapidly expanding community as we introduce the PopStroke brand to people of all ages across Central Florida.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Golfing legend Woods has been in intense recovery after suffering severe leg injuries in a crash earlier this year<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tiger Woods<\/a> is said to have taken a big step towards a sensational return to golf, 10 months after he was involved in a horror car crash<\/a> in Los Angeles.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Woods was pictured still using crutches<\/a> to walk six months after the crash, but fans were delighted to see an image of the golfing great standing unaided<\/a> and with a club in hand as he watched his son Charlie practise<\/strong><\/p>\n

Now, according to TWLegion, a group which spends its time tracking the movements and progress of the American, Woods has managed to resume “some limited golf activity” himself.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It’s the most positive update given since the 45-year-old’s crash, and will give fans further hope that they might be able to see their hero in competitive action again one day.<\/strong><\/p>\n

That return to the tour appears to still be some way away, though.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a recent interview with Golf Magic<\/a>, leading osteopath and sports therapist for the Challenge Tour Poora Singh said he would be “astounded” if Woods were able to play competitive golf in time for The Masters next April.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Woods has been largely silent about the crash and his condition in public, giving updates on social media only sparingly.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He did, though, sit down with an interview with Golf Digest<\/a> earlier this year, in which he said the recovery process has been “more painful than anything” he has ever gone through<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“This has been an entirely different animal, the golfing legend said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sportico<\/a> released its highest-paid athletes of all time Thursday, and “THEY ARE”,\u00a0 Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Based on career earnings adjusted for inflation, Jordan and Woods are the only two athletes to earn at least $2 billion.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jordan leads the way with $2.62 billion thanks largely to the $1 billion in royalties Nike has paid him since he retired in 2003, while Woods has earned $2.1 billion, also benefiting from a longtime Nike partnership.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Golf appears to be the most lucrative sport, as four golfers\u2014Woods, Palmer, Nicklaus and Mickelson\u2014cracked the top 12.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Soccer isn’t far behind with Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi and Beckham all making the top 12 as well.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Late Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant came in at 13th on the list at $930 million, just short of the $1 billion mark.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sportico’s Kurt Badenhausen noted that Bryant’s estate recently netted $400 million because of the sale of\u00a0BodyArmor to Coca-Cola. Bryant would have gotten over the $1 billion threshold had that sale been applied, but Bryant’s earnings were only counted until his untimely death in January 2020 for the purposes of the list.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The NBA had strong representation on the list overall with Jordan, James, Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal ($870 million) and Kevin Durant ($625 million) all in the top 25.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Boxing (Mayweather, Mike Tyson, Manny Pacquiao, Oscar De La Hoya) and auto racing (Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton, Jeff Gordon) are among the other sports with at least three representatives on the list.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Major League Baseball only placed two athletes on the list in the form of former New York Yankees teammates Alex Rodriguez ($650 million) and Derek Jeter ($555 million).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Despite being the most popular and profitable sports league in the United States, the NFL only has one player on the list\u2014former Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, who sold his stake in 31 Papa John’s franchises in 2018.<\/strong><\/p>\n

No female athletes made it inside the top 25, and Badenhausen noted that tennis legend Serena Williams was tops among female athletes with career earnings of $480 million, which placed her just outside the top 40.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Eldrick Tont Woods (born December 30, 1975), professionally known as Tiger Woods, is an American professional golfer<\/a>.
