The G League team tied Texas and Florida State for the most players selected on Thursday night.<\/h2>\n

The G League Ignite had three players selected during the 2021 NBA Draft, including No. 2 overall pick Jalen Green to the Houston Rockets and No. 7 overall pick Jonathan Kuminga to the Golden State Warriors.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Isaiah Todd was selected with the first pick of the second round (31st overall) to the Milwaukee Bucks. Todd reportedly was acquired by the Washington Wizards after two reported trades<\/a> on Thursday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Each player was a five-star high school recruit in 2020 before joining the Ignite, which was launched to help develop young players in a one-year program focused on \u201cNBA Draft readiness and growth of professional life skills.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Brian Keith Shaw (born March 22, 1966)<\/sup> is an American professional basketball<\/a> coach and former player who is the head coach of the NBA G League Ignite<\/a> of the NBA G League<\/a>. He could play both guard<\/a> positions, but was used primarily at point guard<\/a> over the course of his 14 seasons in the league.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Early life<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Shaw grew up in Oakland, California<\/a> with other future basketball stars such as Antonio Davis<\/a>, Jason Kidd<\/a>, and Gary Payton<\/a>, as well as Demetrius “Hook” Mitchell<\/a>.<\/sup> In his youth, he was a participant at the East Oakland Youth Development Center<\/a>, a local community organization where he played basketball. He attended Westlake Middle School<\/a> and then Bishop O’Dowd High School<\/a> in Oakland. For college, he attended St. Mary’s College of California<\/a> for his freshman and sophomore years of college, then transferred to UC Santa Barbara<\/a> for his junior and senior seasons. In his senior year, he was named Pacific Coast Athletic Association (PCAA) player of the year as he led the Gauchos to their first-ever NCAA tournament<\/a> berth.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The NBA G League Ignite is a developmental basketball<\/a> team affiliated with the NBA G League<\/a>. Based in Walnut Creek, California<\/a>, the team was designed to play exhibition games<\/a> outside the G League’s traditional scheduling as part of a one-year development program for elite National Basketball Association<\/a> (NBA) prospects. Its roster is made up of both prospects and veteran players. Ignite was created on April 16, 2020, and is touted as an alternative to college basketball<\/a>, offering prospects salaries of up to $500,000.<\/strong><\/p>\n
