After a 14-month delay, Scarlett Johansson’s solo film Black Widow\u00a0<\/em>will finally release in theaters and on Disney+’s Premier Access next month. The film revamped its marketing back in April of this year<\/a> after posting the “Final Trailer” back in March 2020.<\/strong><\/p>\n

After redirecting the MCU ship, Marvel CCO Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios will get to debut\u00a0their first theatrical project since July 2019. Three MCU Disney+ shows have released in the meantime.<\/strong><\/p>\n

WandaVision, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, <\/i>and Loki\u00a0<\/i>have kept the MCU afloat, but now it’s time to get back to major motion pictures. In part to raise awareness for the film just a few weeks out of its release, Marvel has partnered with a familiar sports league once again.<\/strong><\/p>\n

THE BALL BROS. IN BLACK WIDOW<\/strong><\/h2>\n

NBA Rookie of the Year LaMelo Ball and his brother Lonzo are featured in two of the latest Black Widow<\/em> advertisements that also promote the ongoing NBA playoffs.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The first is an edited video that puts the Ball brothers at the dinner table with Natasha Romanoff and her family.<\/strong><\/p>\n

ANOTHER NBA & MARVEL PARTNERSHIP<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Back in May, ESPN hosted\u00a0Marvel\u2019s Arena of Heroes<\/em> a “Marvel-inspired alternate presentation” NBA game between the Golden State Warriors and New Orleans Pelicans. The comic book theme game brandished\u00a0floating names over the players’ heads, steam coming off of three-point shots, and explosion animations when they went in.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lonzo Ball was also featured in the game, so he is quickly becoming an NBA\/Marvel crossover veteran. The broadcast didn’t only give fans a new look at what an NBA game could look like, but also a Special Look at Loki <\/em>played on the network at halftime.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Disney using all of its available resources to promote each of its brands is good business. The\u00a0Arena of Heroes\u00a0<\/em>televised event gave film fans a reason to tune into the game when they usually wouldn’t, and the Ball brothers interacting with Black Widow and Red Guardian may help Marvel put more seats in the theater come July 9.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Ball family has been known for their entrepreneurial spirit\u00a0over the years. Their father LaVar started the Big Baller Brand in 2016 when his eldest son Lonzo was gearing up to be drafted into the NBA.<\/strong><\/p>\n

LaMelo may have only been kidding when he said families are “a pain in the a–” during the commercial. Learn more about Black Widow’s family when they reunite in theaters and on Disney+ July 9.<\/strong><\/p>\n

LaMelo LaFrance Ball (born August 22, 2001) is an American professional basketball<\/a> player for the Charlotte Hornets<\/a> of the National Basketball Association<\/a> (NBA). He was selected by the Hornets with the third overall pick of the 2020 NBA draft<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ball began high school at Chino Hills High School<\/a> in Chino Hills, California<\/a>, where he won a state championship and achieved national success as a freshman with his older brothers Lonzo<\/a> and LiAngelo<\/a>. Before his junior season, a coaching dispute prompted him to leave Chino Hills and sign with Lithuanian professional team Prienai<\/a>. In 2018, he played in the Junior Basketball Association<\/a> (JBA), a league created by his father, before returning to high school as a senior with SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio<\/a>. Lonzo Anderson Ball (born October 27, 1997)<\/sup> is an American professional basketball<\/a> player for the New Orleans Pelicans<\/a> of the National Basketball Association<\/a> (NBA). A point guard<\/a>, he played college basketball<\/a> for one season with the UCLA Bruins<\/a>, earning consensus first-team All-American<\/a> honors before the Los Angeles Lakers<\/a> selected him with the second overall pick of the 2017 NBA draft<\/a>. Black Widow<\/i> is an upcoming American superhero film<\/a> based on the Marvel Comics<\/a> character of the same name<\/a>. Produced by Marvel Studios<\/a> and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures<\/a>, it is intended to be the 24th film<\/a> in the Marvel Cinematic Universe<\/a> (MCU). Development of a Black Widow film began in April 2004 by Lionsgate<\/a>, with David Hayter<\/a> attached to write and direct. The project did not move forward and the character’s film rights reverted to Marvel Studios by June 2006. Johansson was cast in the role for several MCU films beginning with Iron Man 2<\/a><\/i> (2010), and began discussing a solo film with Marvel. Work began in late 2017, with Shortland hired in 2018. Jac Schaeffer<\/a> and Ned Benson<\/a> contributed to the script before Pearson was hired. Filming took place from May to October 2019 in Norway<\/a>, Budapest<\/a>, Morocco<\/a>, Pinewood Studios<\/a> in England, and in Atlanta<\/a> and Macon, Georgia<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n
