Dallas Cowboys<\/a> quarterback Dak Prescott<\/a> is leaving the apparel company Adidas and signing a five-year agreement with the Jordan Brand.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/strong><\/p>\n

Prescott will be the only Jordan Brand quarterback, the only Cowboys player and the highest-paid NFL player on the signature line’s roster.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Prescott’s deal was negotiated by his marketing agent Peter Miller of JABEZ Marketing Group and the Jordan Brand team.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Cowboys and Prescott agreed to a four-year, $160-million contract<\/a>, including $126 million guaranteed, in March.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Prescott had been with Adidas since his Pro Bowl rookie season with the Cowboys in 2016. Mississippi State<\/a>, where Prescott played in college, was an Adidas school when he was there.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Earlier this offseason, Prescott became a spokesman for Anheuser-Busch InBev. He also has had deals with Pepsi, Sleep Number, Dannon Yogurt, Campbell’s Soup, 7-Eleven, AT&T and Beats By Dre, among others, since becoming the Cowboys’ starter.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Prescott won’t be the first notable Cowboys player to be linked to the Jordan Brand. Former Dallas star Dez Bryant<\/a> was associated with the company when he was with the Cowboys at the end of his career.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The news comes after Prescott pronounced himself back from a dislocated and compound fracture of his right ankle that forced him to miss 11 games in 2020.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“I’ve buried the injury,” Prescott said on Wednesday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Prescott becomes the Jordan Brand\u2019s only quarterback, only Cowboys player, and the highest-paid NFL player on the Jordan Brand roster. It\u2019s reportedly a five-year deal.<\/strong><\/p>\n

During Prescott\u2019s protracted negotiations with the team, it often was suggested that Prescott should take less because of the extra money he can make in marketing. Prescott held firm, and he\u2019s reaping the benefits of both the football deal and the off-field earning opportunities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Prescott suffered a serious ankle injury during Week Five of the 2020 season, but he has suffered no financial impact because of it. He ended up getting a four-year deal with record guarantees and a path to another new contract in only three years.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dak Prescott “looked like Michael Jordan” as he guided the Dallas Cowboys to an incredible\u00a0comeback against the Atlanta Falcons, according to Rob Ryan.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dallas trailed 20-0 and 29-10 on Sunday, then were still nine points behind by the time Atlanta punted the ball back to them with just over three minutes remaining.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A touchdown, a recovered onside kick and a field goal gave the Cowboys the most unlikely of 40-39 victories, quarterback Prescott ending the day with 450 yards and one touchdown through the air, having completed 34 of 47 attempts.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He added three rushing touchdowns after earlier being responsible for one of the team’s three fumbles, with Ryan seeing Prescott’s clutch play in the closing stages as similar to NBA great Jordan in his prime.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ryan also feels the victory, which moved the Cowboys to 1-1, will help Prescott to get the recognition he has not always received amid a high-profile contract negotiation with his team.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“He looked like Michael Jordan did late in games – he was intense, ready for the moment,” Ryan, the former Cowboys defensive coordinator, told Sky Sports.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“This guy has been putting up great numbers and all that for the last few years – people just don’t give him the respect that he deserves. Maybe after this game\u00a0they will start doing it.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Prescott is not the first QB to be compared to Jordan, Clemson Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney previously doing\u00a0the same with Houston Texans signal caller Deshaun Watson.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ryan has concerns over Dallas’ defense ahead of their Week 3 trip to\u00a0the Seattle Seahawks, who themselves won a thriller last time out, emerging triumphant against the New England Patriots.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He added: “The Cowboys have to play much better defense. They have not\u00a0stopped anybody since I got fired [in 2012].<\/strong><\/p>\n
