L. Dandridge (born November 15, 1947) is an American former professional <a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Basketball\">basketball<\/a> player. Dandridge was a four-time NBA All-Star and two-time NBA Champion, who scored 15,530 points in his career. He has been nominated to the 2021 Basketball Hall of Fame.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong><span id=\"Early_years\" class=\"mw-headline\">Early years<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Born in <a title=\"Richmond, Virginia\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Richmond,_Virginia\">Richmond, Virginia<\/a>, he attended <a title=\"Maggie L. Walker Governor's School for Government and International Studies\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Maggie_L._Walker_Governor%27s_School_for_Government_and_International_Studies\">Maggie L. Walker High School<\/a> in Richmond and <a title=\"Norfolk State University\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Norfolk_State_University\">Norfolk State University<\/a>, teaming up with <a title=\"Pee Wee Kirkland\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pee_Wee_Kirkland\">Pee Wee Kirkland<\/a>. His teams had phenomenal years. The Spartans won the CIAA title in 1968 with a 25-2 record; they lost in the second round of the NCAA Division II Men&#8217;s Tournament. The next year their record was 21-4 and they lost in the first round of the D-II tournament. He was drafted by the <a title=\"Kentucky Colonels\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kentucky_Colonels\">Kentucky Colonels<\/a> in the 1969 <a title=\"American Basketball Association\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/American_Basketball_Association\">American Basketball Association<\/a> draft and by the <a title=\"Milwaukee Bucks\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Milwaukee_Bucks\">Milwaukee Bucks<\/a> in the fourth round of the <a title=\"1969 NBA draft\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/1969_NBA_draft\">1969 NBA draft<\/a>.<sup id=\"cite_ref-1\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong><span id=\"Basketball_career\" class=\"mw-headline\">Basketball career<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Named to the <a title=\"NBA All-Rookie Team\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/NBA_All-Rookie_Team\">NBA All-Rookie Team<\/a> in 1970, Dandridge was also an important part of the <a title=\"Milwaukee Bucks\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Milwaukee_Bucks\">Milwaukee Bucks<\/a> team that won the <a title=\"National Basketball Association\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/National_Basketball_Association\">NBA<\/a> championship in 1971 alongside the <a title=\"Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Naismith_Memorial_Basketball_Hall_of_Fame\">Hall-of-Fame<\/a> duo of <a title=\"Kareem Abdul-Jabbar\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kareem_Abdul-Jabbar\">Lew Alcindor<\/a> (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) and <a title=\"Oscar Robertson\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Oscar_Robertson\">Oscar Robertson<\/a>. Dandridge is usually mentioned as one of the NBA&#8217;s best forwards in the 1970s. He played a total of 13 seasons in the NBA, nine of them with the Bucks as well as four with the <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Washington Bullets\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Washington_Bullets\">Washington Bullets<\/a>, with whom he won an NBA championship in 1978 while forming the frontcourt with another future Hall-of-Fame duo: <a title=\"Elvin Hayes\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Elvin_Hayes\">Elvin Hayes<\/a> and <a title=\"Wes Unseld\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wes_Unseld\">Wes Unseld<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In his career, he averaged 18.5 points per game over 839 regular season games and 20 points per game in 98 playoff games and was a 4-time NBA all star. His dunk in Game 7 of the 1978 Finals sealed the Bullets championship victory.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dandridge scored more points in the NBA Finals in the 1970s than any other player, including Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He scored a total of 450 points in four <a title=\"NBA Finals\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/NBA_Finals\">NBA Finals<\/a> played, playing a total of 23 games, garnering an average of over 19 points a game, most notably scoring 109 points in the <a title=\"1979 NBA Finals\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/1979_NBA_Finals\">1979 NBA Finals<\/a>, which was the most on his Washington Bullets team.<sup id=\"cite_ref-2\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In 1992, Dandridge was inducted into the <a title=\"Virginia Sports Hall of Fame and Museum\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Virginia_Sports_Hall_of_Fame_and_Museum\">Virginia Sports Hall of Fame<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong><span id=\"Retirement\" class=\"mw-headline\">Retirement<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>After retiring as a player, Dandridge served as an assistant coach at <a title=\"Hampton University\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hampton_University\">Hampton University<\/a> from 1987 to 1992. With the Milwaukee Bucks and Washington Bullets, he won NBA Championships in 1971 and 1978 respectively. Dandridge is a four-time NBA All-Star (1973, 1975, 1976, 1979). He was named to the NBA All-Rookie Team in 1970 and All-NBA Second Team and NBA All-Defensive Team in 1979. A native of Richmond, he played collegiately at Norfolk State College from 1965-69 where he averaged 22.6 points and 13 rebounds per game. In 1969, he earned several CIAA honors including All-Conference, All-Tournament and Tournament MVP while averaging 32.8 point in his senior season.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Women\u2019s Veterans Committee Direct Elect:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>PEARL MOORE [Player] \u2013 As a four-time AIAW Small College All-American from 1975-1979 at Francis Marion College, Moore scored 4,061 points, making her the women\u2019s college basketball all-time leader in points scored. She averaged 30 points per game and scored in double figures in all 127 college games she played. In 1979, Moore was named American Women\u2019s Sports Foundation Small College Player of the Year, South Carolina AIAW Player of the Year and South Carolina Amateur Athlete of the Year. As a pro, she played two seasons in the WBL and was named an All-Star in 1981.
