Michael Jordan will present Kobe Bryant as he is inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame on May 15.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Hall of Fame announced presenters for the 2020 inductees Thursday, which include David Robinson presenting Tim Duncan and Isiah Thomas presenting Kevin Garnett.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jordan will also present Baylor women’s basketball coach Kim Mulkey for her enshrinement.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bryant, Duncan and Garnett lead one of the strongest classes of Hall of Famers ever. Jordan and Bryant have had an inescapable relationship and off-court kinship, given Kobe’s modeling of his game after His Airness and many viewing Bryant as the rightful heir to Jordan’s basketball throne.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jordan spoke at the memorial service following Bryant’s tragic death last year, calling the Lakers legend a “little brother.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cKobe was my dear friend; he was like a little brother,\u201d Jordan said<\/a>\u00a0in February 2020. “When Kobe died, a little piece of me died. …This kid had passion like you would never know. As I got to know him, I wanted to be the best big brother that I could be.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bryant made an appearance in ESPN’s The Last Dance<\/i><\/a> documentary and credited Jordan with helping him early in his career.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIt was a rough couple years for me coming into the league, \u2018cause at the time the league was so much older, it\u2019s not as young as it is today. Like I had a question about shooting this turnaround shot, so I asked him about it. He gave me a great, detailed answer but on top of that, he said, \u2018If you ever need anything, give me a call.\u2019 That\u2019s like my big brother.”<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

On Thursday afternoon, it was announced who would be presenting the late, great Kobe Bryant<\/a> for his induction into the\u00a0Naismith Hall of Fame.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He\u2019ll be presented by none other than the legendary Michael Jordan<\/a>. Bryant and Jordan shared an incredible relationship, with the former calling Jordan a \u201cbig brother\u201d after he entered the league in 1997.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jordan remarked that people would be surprised to learn how close he was to the former Lakers great.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe it surprised people that Kobe and I were very close friends,\u201d Jordan said, via ESPN.com<\/a>. \u201cBut we were very close friends. \u2026 Everyone always wanted to talk about the comparisons between he and I. I just wanted to talk about Kobe.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Former Lakers general manager Jerry West explained just how close the two were.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cIf you just watched them interact in a game, Kobe always was like a magnet going toward Michael,\u201d West said.\u00a0\u201cUsually Michael didn\u2019t really interact with a lot of players when he was on the court. He\u2019d just play. But for some reason, he had this affinity for him.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jordan gave a tearful speech at Bryant\u2019s funeral. Now he\u2019ll get the chance to immortalize Kobe forever as part of the 2020 Naismith Hall of Fame class at the ceremony on May 15.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
