Russell Westbrook III is an American professional basketball<\/a> player for the Washington Wizards<\/a> of the National Basketball Association<\/a> (NBA). He is a nine-time NBA All-Star<\/a> and earned the NBA Most Valuable Player Award<\/a> for the 2016\u201317 season. He is also an eight-time All-NBA Team<\/a> member, led the league in scoring<\/a> in 2014\u201315 and 2016\u201317, and won back-to-back NBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player<\/a> awards in 2015 and 2016. In 2017, the year he won the league MVP award, Westbrook became one of two players in NBA history to average a triple-double<\/a> for a season, along with Oscar Robertson<\/a> in 1962. He also set a record for the most triple-doubles in a season, with 42. He went on to average a triple-double the following two seasons also, as well as lead the league in assists<\/a> and become the first player to lead the league in points and assists in multiple seasons. He is currently second all time in career triple-doubles in NBA history.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Westbrook played college basketball<\/a> for the UCLA Bruins<\/a> and earned third-team all-conference<\/a> honors in the Pac-10<\/a>. He was selected with the fourth overall pick in the 2008 NBA draft<\/a> by the Seattle SuperSonics<\/a>, who then relocated<\/a> to Oklahoma City<\/a> that same week. Johnathan Hildred Wall Jr. is an American professional basketball<\/a> player for the Houston Rockets<\/a> of the National Basketball Association<\/a> (NBA). A Raleigh, North Carolina<\/a> native, Wall was chosen with the first overall pick<\/a> of the 2010 NBA draft<\/a> by the Washington Wizards<\/a> after playing one year of college basketball<\/a> for the Kentucky Wildcats<\/a>. Wall plays the point guard<\/a> position and is a five-time NBA All-Star<\/a> and was named to the All-NBA Team<\/a> in 2017. He was traded to Houston in 2020.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Originally recruited by the University of Kentucky<\/a>, Duke University<\/a>, Georgia Tech<\/a>, and University of Kansas<\/a>, Wall announced his commitment to attend the University of Kentucky on May 19, 2009.<\/sup> He was suspended by the NCAA<\/a> from Kentucky’s first exhibition game and first regular season game for travel benefits he received from his AAU coach Brian Clifton, a certified agent at the time. In his first action as a Wildcat, in an exhibition game against Clarion University of Pennsylvania<\/a>, the freshman point guard led his team to victory with 27 points and 9 assists in 28 minutes of playing time. In his collegiate debut at Kentucky versus Miami University<\/a>, Wall made the game-winning shot with .5 seconds left on the clock to help then #5 ranked Kentucky<\/a> win. He finished with 19 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On December 29, 2009, against Hartford, Wall set the Kentucky single-game assist record with 16, 11 in the first half, with only 1 turnover. The mark was previously held by Travis Ford<\/a>, at 15, and was broken on Ford’s 40th birthday. Wall scored 9 points, failing to break double digits for the first time in his college career.<\/strong><\/p>\n
