Nowadays, we\u2019re used to seeing players trying to get crazy with their looks, but nobody could rock a wide-brim hat right after calmly icing a game-saving shot quite like Clyde did \u2014 all in the same sneakers, of course.<\/strong><\/div>\n<div role=\"heading\" data-attrid=\"wa:\/description\" aria-level=\"3\" data-hveid=\"CAYQAA\"><\/div>\n<div role=\"heading\" data-attrid=\"wa:\/description\" aria-level=\"3\" data-hveid=\"CAYQAA\"><strong>In the latest episode of our podcast with PUMA, \u201cRepresent Yourself,\u201d we sat down with the two-time NBA champion to talk about his colorful suit collection, supreme confidence, and how his life experiences have helped create his famous persona. Now, the NBA broadcaster stunts a wardrobe stocked with more prints and patterns than you can shake a Suede at, but to understand Clyde today, you have to learn about young Walt, when he first moved to New York: \u201cI liked the way the guys were dressing. I liked what was going on. Once I became more popular as a basketball player, when I used to go out, I always dressed up. Once I got the hat, the mink coats, it just started happening. I love New York \u2014 the style. The endorsement deal with PUMA that led to the creation of his namesake sneaker in the early \u201970s would leave a lasting cultural impact on both the sneaker and sporting worlds.<\/strong><\/div>\n<div role=\"heading\" data-attrid=\"wa:\/description\" aria-level=\"3\" data-hveid=\"CAYQAA\">\n<p><strong>\u201cWhen I first came to PUMA, they had the PUMA Basket. It was leather \u2014 heavy, clunky. I told them even if they paid me I wouldn\u2019t wear the shoe, man [laughs]\u2026 That was PUMA\u2019s idea! The Suede was very innovative; nobody had suede shoes. I liked it right away\u2026 It was different. Whether it be wearing a stellar three-piece leopard print suit, or with the ball in his hands and the game on the line, Clyde\u2019s cool is ultimately what makes him a success.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ultimately, Frazier credits his smiling confidence to the family and friends that helped him grow up along the way \u2014 and he makes sure to be reminded of that to this day, as both a basketball and a style icon: \u201cI carried myself with pride. I never embarrassed my race\u2026 Even to this day, they can\u2019t say anything negative about Clyde, or what I did off the court to embarrass them. I attribute that to my parents; I was really raised by a village \u2014 parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, peers, coaches \u2014 everyone played a role in developing my character, my pride, my tenacity. As their floor general and top perimeter defender, he led the <a title=\"New York Knicks\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/New_York_Knicks\">New York Knicks<\/a> to the franchise&#8217;s only two championships (1970 and 1973), and was inducted into the <a title=\"Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Naismith_Memorial_Basketball_Hall_of_Fame\">Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame<\/a> in 1987. Upon his retirement from basketball, Frazier went into <a title=\"Broadcasting\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Broadcasting\">broadcasting<\/a>; he is currently a <a title=\"Color commentator\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Color_commentator\">color commentator<\/a> for telecasts of Knicks games on the <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"MSG (TV network)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/MSG_(TV_network)\">MSG Network<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>He lives in <a title=\"Harlem\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Harlem\">Harlem<\/a> with his long-term girlfriend, Patricia James, and they also have a home in <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"St. Croix\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/St._Croix\">St. Croix<\/a>.
