He just wants to get the call.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;I\u2019ve been waiting for the call to the majors my whole life,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I\u2019ll continue to play 100 percent, just like in (Class) A ball, Double-A and here in Buffalo.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"block-element__p\"><strong>&#8220;If he hits 25 home runs, I think you&#8217;re excited. If he hits about .250, I think you&#8217;re really excited,&#8221; he told Virk and Nelson. &#8220;Obviously, you&#8217;re going to see much, much better pitching on a consistent basis. You&#8217;re going to see bullpens that you&#8217;ve never seen before, and he doesn&#8217;t know any pitchers.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"block-element__p\"><strong>It appears Vlad Jr.&#8217;s time is coming, even if there were conflicting reports Friday about the date. Hector Gomez, a reporter in the Dominican Republic, <a class=\"content-element__a\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hgomez27\/status\/1119292908501336065\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> that Guerrero would make his MLB debut Tuesday, but TSN&#8217;s Scott Mitchell <a class=\"content-element__a\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ScottyMitchTSN\/status\/1119323008810848263\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported that his sources said<\/a> there would need to be an injury this weekend for Guerrero to come up that soon. He is considered the top prospect in all of professional baseball by both <a title=\"Major League Baseball\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Major_League_Baseball\">Major League Baseball<\/a> (MLB) and <i><a title=\"Baseball America\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Baseball_America\">Baseball America<\/a><\/i>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Guerrero was ranked as the 2015 top international free agent by <i>Baseball America<\/i>, and 4th overall by MLB. <sup id=\"cite_ref-4\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup> He signed with Toronto on July 2, 2015, for $3.9 million. Guerrero was assigned to extended spring training camp to open the 2016 minor league season. On June 22, it was announced that Guerrero would make his professional baseball debut with the <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Rookie Advanced\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rookie_Advanced\">Rookie Advanced<\/a> <a title=\"Bluefield Blue Jays\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bluefield_Blue_Jays\">Bluefield Blue Jays<\/a> the following day. Guerrero played in 62 games for Bluefield in 2016, and <a title=\"Batting average\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Batting_average\">hit<\/a> .271 with eight home runs, 46 <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Runs batted in\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Runs_batted_in\">runs batted in<\/a> (RBI), and 15 <a title=\"Stolen base\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Stolen_base\">stolen bases<\/a>. On January 24, 2017, MLB named Guerrero the third best prospect at third base heading into the 2017 minor league season.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Guerrero opened the 2017 minor league season with the <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Class A (baseball)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Class_A_(baseball)\">Class-A<\/a> <a title=\"Lansing Lugnuts\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lansing_Lugnuts\">Lansing Lugnuts<\/a>. In a 6\u20133 win over the <a title=\"Great Lakes Loons\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Great_Lakes_Loons\">Great Lakes Loons<\/a> on April 7, he hit his first home run of the season. <sup id=\"cite_ref-15\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup> Guerrero was named a <a title=\"Midwest League\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Midwest_League\">Midwest League<\/a> All-Star on June 7, and on June 29, he was named to the World team roster for the <a title=\"All-Star Futures Game\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/All-Star_Futures_Game\">2017 All-Star Futures Game<\/a>. On July\u00a0 6, the Blue Jays announced that Guerrero would be promoted to the <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Class A-Advanced\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Class_A-Advanced\">Advanced-A<\/a> <a title=\"Dunedin Blue Jays\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dunedin_Blue_Jays\">Dunedin Blue Jays<\/a> following the All-Star Futures Game. In a game against the <a title=\"Clearwater Threshers\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Clearwater_Threshers\">Clearwater Threshers<\/a> on August 31, Guerrero hit a home run to give the Blue Jays a 5\u20133 victory. The win ensured that Dunedin would make the <a title=\"Florida State League\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Florida_State_League\">Florida State League<\/a> playoffs. Guerrero finished the 2017 regular season with a .323 batting average, 13 home runs, and 76 RBI in 119 games played. He also <a title=\"Base on balls\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Base_on_balls\">walked<\/a> more than he <a title=\"Strikeout\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Strikeout\">struck out<\/a>, with 76 and 62 respectively, and posted a .910 <a title=\"On-base plus slugging\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/On-base_plus_slugging\">on-base plus slugging<\/a> percentage (OPS). On September 6, Guerrero was named <a title=\"ESPN\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/ESPN\">ESPN<\/a>&#8216;s Prospect of the Year. Through the first month of the season, he led the <a title=\"Eastern League (baseball)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Eastern_League_(baseball)\">Eastern League<\/a> with a .398 batting average and 30 runs batted in. On June 4, Guerrero was named the Eastern League&#8217;s Player of the Month after hitting .438 with nine home runs and 28 RBI in May. On June 6, Guerrero was removed from a game against the <a title=\"Akron RubberDucks\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Akron_RubberDucks\">Akron RubberDucks<\/a> with a leg injury. Three days later, it was determined that he had a strained <a title=\"Patellar ligament\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Patellar_ligament\">patellar ligament<\/a> in his left knee, and would be on the disabled list for at least four weeks. Guerrero hit .402 with 14 home runs and 60 RBI in 61 games with New Hampshire. His power has often received a 70 grade, which indicates a &#8220;plus-plus&#8221; tool in the scouting industry.
