He also visited China not long after announcing his retirement from the NBA.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The <\/strong>basketball<strong> World Cup is a 32-nation tournament played from Aug. 31 to Sept. 15 in eight different cities.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Bryant&#8217;s role as global ambassador includes promoting the World Cup and leading activities on the Road to <\/strong>China<strong> 2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Former NBA and USA national team superstar will be a global ambassador for the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup, the governing body for basketball announced on Wednesday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Over the course of a stellar 20-year career, Bryant won five NBA championships with the Los Angeles Lakers and two Olympic gold medals with Team USA.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>He is widely considered to be one of the best players in basketball history and among the world&#8217;s greatest athletes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"ProfileHeaderCard-screenname u-inlineBlock u-dir\" dir=\"ltr\"><a class=\"ProfileHeaderCard-screennameLink u-linkComplex js-nav\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kobebryant\"> <span class=\"username u-dir\" dir=\"ltr\">@<b class=\"u-linkComplex-target\">kobebryant<\/b><\/span> <\/a><\/h2>\n<p><strong>His popularity in China is second to none: he ranks as the most followed NBA player on Chinese social media, where he has some 6.84 million followers.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Bryant joins Yao Ming in becoming an ambassador for basketball&#8217;s biggest competition.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>As a global ambassador, Bryant will help promote the World Cup and take part in activities on the Road to <\/strong>China<strong> 2019, as well as at the first-ever 32-team edition of FIBA&#8217;s flagship competition.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-16454\" src=\"https:\/\/myboysay.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/kobe-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/myboysay.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/kobe-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/myboysay.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/kobe-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/myboysay.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/kobe.jpg 950w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>&#8220;Growing up in Italy and spending many years visiting China, I have always appreciated the global impact that basketball has had on the positive development of young people,&#8221; Bryant said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;I&#8217;m honored FIBA has invited me to serve as an ambassador for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019.
