Ozen High School\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Clifton_J._Ozen_High_School\">Clifton J. Ozen High School<\/a> in <a title=\"Beaumont, Texas\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Beaumont,_Texas\">Beaumont, Texas<\/a> in 2003. He led Ozen High to four consecutive district championships and one state championship during his high school career. Averaging 27.5 points, 16.4 rebounds and 7.8 blocked shots a game as a Senior, he led Ozen to a 33\u20131 record, with the only loss being a 66\u201354 setback to Fort Worth Dunbar in the state 4A championship game. After his senior season in 2003, Perkins was selected to the <a title=\"McDonald's All-American Game\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/McDonald%27s_All-American_Game\">McDonald&#8217;s All-American Game<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Considered a five-star recruit by <a title=\"Rivals.com\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rivals.com\">Rivals.com<\/a>, Perkins was listed as the No. 3 center and the No. 6 player in the nation in 2003. He had a limited role during the regular season and <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"NBA Playoffs\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/NBA_Playoffs\">playoffs<\/a>as the team&#8217;s &#8220;enforcer&#8221;. Perkins was involved in an unusual scenario in the final seconds of regulation in Game 6 of the 2005 Eastern Conference first round against <a title=\"Indiana Pacers\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Indiana_Pacers\">Indiana<\/a>. <a title=\"Paul Pierce\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Paul_Pierce\">Paul Pierce<\/a> was ejected but Pierce was owed free throws because he had been fouled before the ejection. Under NBA rules, Indiana coach <a title=\"Rick Carlisle\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rick_Carlisle\">Rick Carlisle<\/a> chose to select Perkins (who had not played in the game) off the bench to shoot the crucial <a title=\"Free throw\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Free_throw\">free throws<\/a> (the game was tied). Perkins missed both, indirectly leading the game going into overtime, in which the Celtics eventually won.<sup id=\"cite_ref-5\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"thumb tright\"><strong style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">After marked improvements during summer training and practice, Perkins earned more playing time from coach <a title=\"Doc Rivers\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Doc_Rivers\">Doc Rivers\u00a0<\/a>during the 2005\u201306 season. He played some of the best games of his career in 2006, repeatedly reaching double figures in points and rebounds. After the trade of <a title=\"Mark Blount\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mark_Blount\">Mark Blount<\/a> to the <a title=\"Minnesota Timberwolves\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Minnesota_Timberwolves\">Minnesota Timberwolves<\/a>, Perkins became the undisputed starting\u00a0<a title=\"Center (basketball)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Center_(basketball)\">center<\/a> for the Celtics, although he was already sharing starting time before Blount&#8217;s departure. He started at center for the 2008 NBA champion Boston Celtics.<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>In Game 6 of the <a title=\"2010 NBA Finals\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2010_NBA_Finals\">2010 NBA Finals<\/a>, Perkins injured his knee and missed the rest of the game. He was inactive for Game 7, in which the Celtics fell to the <a title=\"Los Angeles Lakers\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Los_Angeles_Lakers\">Los Angeles Lakers<\/a>. He received a standing ovation upon entering the game in the first quarter. After coming off the bench for his first 5 games back, Perkins returned to the starting line-up Friday, February 4 in a home loss to the <a title=\"Dallas Mavericks\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dallas_Mavericks\">Dallas Mavericks<\/a>. He logged his first double-double of the season with 13 points, 12 rebounds and 1 blocked shot while shooting 6 for 7 from the field in 33 minutes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong><span id=\"Oklahoma_City_Thunder_(2011\u20132015)\" class=\"mw-headline\">Oklahoma City Thunder (2011\u20132015)<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>On February 24, 2011, Perkins and <a title=\"Nate Robinson\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nate_Robinson\">Nate Robinson<\/a> were traded to Oklahoma City Thunder for <a title=\"Jeff Green (basketball)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jeff_Green_(basketball)\">Jeff Green<\/a> and <a title=\"Nenad Krsti\u0107\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nenad_Krsti%C4%87\">Nenad Krsti\u0107<\/a>. On March 1, he signed a multi-year extension with the Thunder.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In 2012, Perkins and the Thunder reached the NBA Finals, but were defeated by the <a title=\"Miami Heat\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Miami_Heat\">Miami Heat<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>On February 19, 2015, Perkins was traded to the <a title=\"Utah Jazz\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Utah_Jazz\">Utah Jazz<\/a> in a three-team trade that also involved the <a title=\"Detroit Pistons\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Detroit_Pistons\">Detroit Pistons<\/a>. He made his debut for the Pelicans in the team&#8217;s season opening loss to the Golden State Warriors on October 27. In just under 16 minutes of action as a starter, he recorded 10 points on 5-of-5 shooting and 4 rebounds. On November 6, he was ruled out for three months with a right pectoral injury. He returned to the Pelicans&#8217; line-up on December 11, but did not play against the Washington Wizards.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong><span id=\"Canton_Charge_(2017\u20132018)\" class=\"mw-headline\">Canton Charge (2017\u20132018)<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>On September 25, 2017, Perkins signed with the <a title=\"Cleveland Cavaliers\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cleveland_Cavaliers\">Cleveland Cavaliers<\/a>, returning to the franchise for a second stint. On October 14, 2017, he was waived by the Cavaliers after appearing in three preseason games.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>On October 16, 2017, Perkins agreed to a deal to join the Cleveland Cavaliers-affiliated <a title=\"Canton Charge\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Canton_Charge\">Canton Charge<\/a> of the <a title=\"NBA G League\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/NBA_G_League\">NBA G League<\/a>. Perkins played 27 games for the Charge, averaging 8.7 points and 7.1 rebounds before retiring from the G League on February 9, 2018.
