The 36-year-old won the Australian Open last month to extend his career record for Grand Slam titles among men to 20. With the Swiss star showing no sign of slowing down, brands still clamor to align themselves with the ageless Federer.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_918296362\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n<div class=\"article-body-image\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thumbor.forbes.com\/thumbor\/960x0\/smart\/https%3A%2F%2Fspecials-images.forbesimg.com%2Fdam%2Fimageserve%2F918296362%2F960x0.jpg%3Ffit%3Dscale\" \/><\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"caption-container\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>The latest is Mercedes-Benz, which first partnered with Federer in 2008. The German auto brand&#8217;s parent, Daimler, announced an extension today of its endorsement deal with Federer. The new multi-year deal will net Federer an estimated $5 million annually.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;Roger Federer is an outstanding athlete who has shaped tennis for decades and stands for top performance. As a successful top athlete, he ideally represents our brand as we are united by the demand for perfection and the will to succeed,&#8221; says Dr. Jens Thiemer, Vice President Marketing Mercedes-Benz Cars in a press release on the news.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"article-0-inread\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-14907\" src=\"https:\/\/myboysay.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/markenbotschafter_roger-federer_01_739x412-739x412-300x167.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"167\" srcset=\"https:\/\/myboysay.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/markenbotschafter_roger-federer_01_739x412-739x412-300x167.jpg 300w, https:\/\/myboysay.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/markenbotschafter_roger-federer_01_739x412-739x412.jpg 739w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Federer first partnered with Mercedes a decade ago in a three-year deal focused exclusively on China. The agreement was extended in 2011 as a global deal with Mercedes-Benz using Federer in its marketing around the world. The pact was extended again for three years at the end of 2014.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p><strong>Mercedes has used tennis as one of the pillars in its marketing for more than two decades. In addition to Federer, Mercedes\u00a0is a primary sponsor of the US Open and annual Shanghai Tour stop. Mercedes-Benz sponsored the inaugural Laver Cup in Prague last year. The team event featuring players from Europe taking on those from the rest of the world was founded and organized by Federer and his management company, TEAM8.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"vestpocket\"><strong>The Mercedes\u2019 renewal follows Swiss chocolate brand Lindt, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/kurtbadenhausen\/2017\/12\/12\/roger-federer-adds-millions-to-his-endorsement-earnings-with-lindt-extension\/#6b19a7f46494\" target=\"_self\">re-upped with Federer<\/a> at the end of 2017 in a multi-year deal worth more than $20 million. Lindt originally signed Federer to an endorsement in 2009.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p><strong>Athlete-brand partnerships tend to run their course after a few years, but Federer\u2019s brand partners tend to never leave his endorsement stable. Nike, Rolex, Credit Suisse, Jura and Wilson have partnered with Federer for more than a decade. He also benefits from the global nature of the sport and the attractive demographics of the tennis fan with high disposable income to spend on cars, watches and equipment. Federer is arguably the world&#8217;s most attractive endorsement personality for brands in sports or otherwise.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The result: Federer\u2019s endorsement earnings are the highest in the world among active athletes at more than $50 million a year. He ranked fourth last year in <em>Forbes<\/em>\u2019 annual look at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/kurtbadenhausen\/2017\/06\/07\/ronaldo-lebron-top-the-worlds-highest-paid-athletes-of-2017\/#6903a9e74a1c\" target=\"_self\">world\u2019s highest-paid athletes<\/a>\u00a0with $64 million, including prize money and appearance fees.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Federer&#8217;s long-term partnerships, as well as the nearly year-round tennis schedule, don&#8217;t leave time for many new brands to enter the fold. But Federer added a new sponsor last year in Barilla, the largest pasta company in the world, with estimated revenue of $3.7 billion. Federer would be the oldest player in men\u2019s history to hold the top ranking.
