Just to be here is an accomplishment. But that&#8217;s quite an accomplishment.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"article-body\">\n<div class=\"article-copy\">\n<p><strong>Fitzgerald and his friend Streelman won wire-to-wire.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;Just being completely out of my comfort zone, not being a professional, just kind of dealing with what comes,&#8221; Fitzgerald said. &#8220;That&#8217;s what I think made it special for me, is that this game is so difficult.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;I just think you even have more respect for the guys who win and play consistently at a high level because it&#8217;s the hardest game out there.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Streelman told ESPN that the victory is &#8220;something that I will never forget. To win this with my buddy.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In the main tournament, Streelman finished in sixth, 4 strokes back of winner Ted Potter Jr.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Fitzgerald is still contemplating his future in the NFL and said at the <a class=\"r_lapi\" href=\"http:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/topics\/news\/super-bowl.htm\">Super Bowl<\/a> that he would make a decision on his playing future in the next &#8220;week or two.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Fitzgerald, 34, tied a career best last season with 109 catches. He also had 1,156 yards and six touchdown receptions. Fitzgerald is only the seventh professional athlete to win the title, and the first since quarterback Dan Marino won in 1988.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Fitzgerald said he is \u201cconsumed\u201d by golf \u2013 not hard to figure out when he often races out of the locker room on Fridays later in the season so he can get a round in. Bay Area News Group reported Fitzgerald is a 13-handicap.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>His home course is Whisper Rock in Scottsdale, which is where Streelman is based.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cFootball is just reactionary \u2014 I see the ball and I catch it,\u201d Fitzgerald told reporters at the event earlier in the tournament. \u201cI see guys and I try to make them miss. It just happens, you don\u2019t have time to think about it. In golf, you have to think about everything: The ball is below my feet. The wind is left to right. The pin is back right. It\u2019s definitely the hardest game I\u2019ve ever played.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Fitzgerald just took part in the one-day pro-am at the Waste Management Phoenix Open the week before. He then flew to Minneapolis to do sponsor-related interviews at the Super Bowl.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>After playing Pebble Beach, Fitzgerald said he is headed to New Zealand, and then to South Korea to watch some of the Olympics.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Larry Darnell Fitzgerald Jr. (born August 31, 1983) is an <a title=\"American football\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/American_football\">American football<\/a> <a title=\"Wide receiver\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wide_receiver\">wide receiver<\/a> for the <a title=\"Arizona Cardinals\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Arizona_Cardinals\">Arizona Cardinals<\/a> of the <a title=\"National Football League\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/National_Football_League\">National Football League<\/a> (NFL). He was drafted by the Cardinals third overall in the <a title=\"2004 NFL Draft\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2004_NFL_Draft\">2004 NFL Draft<\/a>. He played <a title=\"College football\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/College_football\">college football<\/a> at <a title=\"Pittsburgh Panthers football\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pittsburgh_Panthers_football\">Pittsburgh<\/a>, where he earned unanimous <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"All-American\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/All-American\">All-American<\/a> honors.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Fitzgerald has been selected for the <a title=\"Pro Bowl\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pro_Bowl\">Pro Bowl<\/a> eleven times,<sup id=\"cite_ref-1\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup> and was named First-team <a title=\"All-Pro\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/All-Pro\">All-Pro<\/a> in <a title=\"2008 All-Pro Team\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2008_All-Pro_Team\">2008<\/a> and Second-team <a title=\"All-Pro\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/All-Pro\">All-Pro<\/a> twice in <a title=\"2009 All-Pro Team\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2009_All-Pro_Team\">2009<\/a> and <a title=\"2011 All-Pro Team\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2011_All-Pro_Team\">2011<\/a>. As of 2017, he is third all-time in <a title=\"List of National Football League career receptions leaders\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/List_of_National_Football_League_career_receptions_leaders\">receptions<\/a>, third in <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"List of National Football League receiving yards leaders\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/List_of_National_Football_League_receiving_yards_leaders\">receiving yards<\/a> (leading all active players in those two categories), and eighth in <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"List of National Football League receiving touchdowns leaders\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/List_of_National_Football_League_receiving_touchdowns_leaders\">receiving touchdowns<\/a>.<sup id=\"cite_ref-pfr_2-0\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"toc\" class=\"toc\">\n<p><strong><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">Fitzgerald&#8217;s father, Larry Fitzgerald Sr., is a sportswriter for the <\/span><i style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder<\/i><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">. The court received new hoops, poles, backboards and benches. He also partnered with <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Riddell Sports Group, Inc.\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Riddell_Sports_Group,_Inc.\">Riddell<\/a> to provide new helmets to 1,000 kids in the <a title=\"Minneapolis\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Minneapolis\">Minneapolis<\/a> Parks and Recreation football program.<sup id=\"cite_ref-Scoggins_191-0\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Fitzgerald also established the \u201cCarol Fitzgerald Memorial Fund\u201d in honor of his mother who died of <a title=\"Breast cancer\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Breast_cancer\">breast cancer<\/a> in 2003. The organization offers support to causes that Fitzgerald\u2019s mother held deep including educating urban youth about <a title=\"HIV\/AIDS\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/HIV\/AIDS\">HIV\/AIDS<\/a>and breast cancer issues. He has served as an NFL spokesman for the league-wide breast cancer awareness initiative \u201cA Crucial Catch\u201d for three years and every October makes donations to breast cancer organizations based on his touchdowns and receptions during the month.<sup id=\"cite_ref-Holbrook_189-1\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In 2014, Fitzgerald was selected as the 2014 <a title=\"Henry Iba\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Henry_Iba\">Henry P. Arkush Humanitarian Award for his community and charitable contributions.<sup id=\"cite_ref-Holbrook_189-2\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>During the 2013 season, Fitzgerald was honored with the <a title=\"National Football League Players Association\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/National_Football_League_Players_Association\">NFL Players Association<\/a> Georgetown Lombardi Award.
