The new vehicle-manufacturing landscape is not one of scale just yet (Tesla sold more than <\/span><a style=\"line-height: inherit; font-size: 16px;\" href=\"http:\/\/ir.tesla.com\/releasedetail.cfm?releaseid=1006161\">76,000 cars<\/a><span style=\"line-height: inherit; font-size: 16px;\"> in 2016. On <a href=\"https:\/\/localmotors.com\/company\/\">its website<\/a>, the company calls it \u201can active process where brands and their customers work together with solvers, designers, and engineers to accelerate product and technology development.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"mb_video_placement\"><strong>\u00a0With a handful of microfactories in places like Knoxville, Tennessee; National Harbor, Maryland; and Tempe, Arizona, Local Motors has secured\u00a0$1 billion in financing to build its vehicles, including\u00a0third-party operational support to keep them on the roads.<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><strong>Started in 2008 by retired Marine and Harvard Business School grad Jay Rogers, the company has struck partnerships with some of the biggest corporations in the United States, including IBM, General Electric, Hewlett-Packard and the Army. Local Motors has printed an operational 3-D vehicle as well as all-terrain tanks for the military.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p><strong>Speaking to Forbes last year, Rogers said what makes his company different is that it listens to what people want and invites them to help turn it into a reality. \u201cIt is about changing a 100-year paradigm in mass manufacturing. We are now using the crowd. We are using a bespoke community that we build with suppliers and customers. The French company with offices in the United States hopes the global emphasis on reducing congestion in urban centers will help it integrate into the daily lives of people who are looking for new ways of mobility.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In a deal announced this week, Keolis, an international company that makes transit systems, signed on to bring Nayva\u2019s Autonom Cab, an electric taxi, to the United States.\u00a0\u201cWith the introduction of vehicles such as Navya\u2019s Autonom Cab we hope to kick-start a sea change in the available options for urban mobility in cities across\u00a0North America\u00a0and beyond,\u201d Nayva CEO\u00a0Christophe Sapet said, <a href=\"https:\/\/sg.news.yahoo.com\/autonom-cab-launch-las-vegas-124201389.html\">according to Yahoo News<\/a>. \u201cAutonomous, personalized and shared, this unique mobility solution answers the major challenges urban populations face traveling in and around cities.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In addition to self-driving vehicles, Navya makes electric ones, as well. \u201cThese are vehicles that merge motor, digital and robotic technology and are capable of solving the problem of the first and last mile, both in cities and on private sites,\u201d says <a href=\"http:\/\/navya.tech\/en\/autonom-en\/autonom-shuttle\/\">the company\u2019s website<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"fs-headline speakable-headline\"><strong>CES 2018: French Tech Startups Are Taking Over Innovation Exhibit<\/strong><\/h1>\n<div><strong><span style=\"line-height: inherit;\">For the third year in a row, France will be the first most represented country outside of the U.S. &#8211; which is showcasing 280 startups &#8211; at CES&#8217;\u00a0Eureka Park, with more than 274 startups, representing every major industry, from the latest in self-driving vehicles, smart cities, AI, sports tech, robotics, health and fitness tech and more.<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>French startups have growing international ambitions<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3183\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n<div class=\"article-body-image\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3183 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs-images.forbes.com\/jeanbaptiste\/files\/2018\/01\/Catalogue_CES_2018BAT.jpg?width=960\" alt=\"\" data-height=\"2480\" data-width=\"3496\" \/><\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"caption-container\">\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\" aria-expanded=\"false\"><strong>For the first time at CES, French startups now represent over 30%\u00a0of all the international companies showcasing at the Eureka Park, far more than\u00a0Holland (60) or China (55).<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>&#8220;This is a huge jump, more than 50% from last year,&#8221; explained Adrien Cabo, in charge of the international development for the French Tech scene. &#8220;And for the first time at CES, French startups now represent 1\/3\u00a0of all the international companies showcased at the Eureka Park, far more\u00a0than Holland or China combined.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"article-0-inread\"><strong>However, because of the amount of French startups and the way they\u00a0are scattered around the show floor &#8211; lives by giving them the ability to interact with their pet whenever they want.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/lancey.fr\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Lancey Energy Storage<\/a> (Best of Innovation Award winner) is the first smart electric heater with a battery and a native energy management system which makes it 50% cheaper to run than any other electric space heaters.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.mybus.io\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">MyBus<\/a> is a smart ticketing application for urban public transport that\u00a0allows users to get rid of physical transport tickets and transport networks their payment terminals.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/qista.eu\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Qista<\/a> has developed a mosquito control solution, the &#8220;Anti-Mosquito Trap&#8221;, to be used in both private and public spaces.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rifft.fr\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Rifft<\/a> is presenting Wi Surf (Wireless Surface), the first customizable and wireless modular induction charger and power supply station.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/rium.icohup.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Rium<\/a> is a low-cost, high-performance and small radioactivity detector that is connected to an easy-to-use mobile application.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.solable.fr\/copie-de-accueil\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Solable<\/a> developed LaVie, which transforms tap water into pure mineral water with no consumable or no advanced filtering process.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/unistellaroptics.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Unistellar<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/vaonis.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Vaonis<\/a>\u00a0are\u00a0makers of telescopes. The 2018 show is ongoing.<\/strong><strong>The first CES was held in June 1967 in <a title=\"New York City\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/New_York_City\">New York City<\/a>. It was a spinoff from the Chicago Music Show, which until then had served as the main event for exhibiting consumer electronics. The event had 17,500 attendees and over 100 exhibitors; the kickoff speaker was <a title=\"Motorola\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Motorola\">Motorola<\/a> chairman <a title=\"Bob Galvin\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bob_Galvin\">Bob Galvin<\/a>.<span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px; line-height: 20px;\">\u00a0<\/span>From 1978 to 1994, CES was held twice each year: once in January in Las Vegas known as <i>Winter Consumer Electronics Show (WCES)<\/i> and once in June in <a title=\"Chicago\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chicago\">Chicago<\/a>, known as <i>Summer Consumer Electronics Show (SCES)<\/i>.<\/strong><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-14356\" src=\"https:\/\/myboysay.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/DTOHG3YVMAA1wI5-CES-2-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/myboysay.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/DTOHG3YVMAA1wI5-CES-2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/myboysay.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/DTOHG3YVMAA1wI5-CES-2-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/myboysay.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/DTOHG3YVMAA1wI5-CES-2-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/myboysay.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/DTOHG3YVMAA1wI5-CES-2-1080x810.jpg 1080w, https:\/\/myboysay.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/DTOHG3YVMAA1wI5-CES-2.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>The winter show was successfully held in Las Vegas in 1995 as planned.\u00a0\u00a0However, since the summer Chicago shows were beginning to lose popularity, the organizers decided to experiment by having the show travel around to different cities starting in 1995 with a planned show in Philadelphia at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.<span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px; line-height: 20px;\">\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0However, the inaugural <a title=\"Electronic Entertainment Expo\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Electronic_Entertainment_Expo\">E3 gaming show<\/a> was scheduled to be held on the West Coast in May and proved a source of increasing competition, causing the Philadelphia Summer CES show to be cancelled.<span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px; line-height: 20px;\">\u00a0<\/span>The 1996 Winter show was again held in Las Vegas in January,<span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px; line-height: 20px;\">\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0followed by a Summer show this time in Orlando, Florida, however only a fraction of the traditional exhibitors participated.\u00a0 Again, the 1997 Winter show in Las Vegas was very successful. In Las Vegas, the show is one of the largest (the other being <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"CONEXPO-CON\/AGG\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/CONEXPO-CON\/AGG\">CONEXPO-CON\/AGG<\/a>), taking up to 18 days to set up, run and break down.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Baron Walter Louis Davis<span style=\"line-height: inherit;\">\u00a0is a former American professional <\/span><a style=\"line-height: inherit;\" title=\"Basketball\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Basketball\">basketball<\/a><span style=\"line-height: inherit;\"> player. He is a two-time <\/span><a style=\"line-height: inherit;\" title=\"NBA All-Star Game\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/NBA_All-Star_Game\">NBA All-Star<\/a><span style=\"line-height: inherit;\">.
