He played the majority of his 11-year career with the <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"San Diego Chargers\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/San_Diego_Chargers\">San Diego Chargers<\/a>, who selected him with the fifth overall pick in the <a title=\"2001 NFL Draft\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2001_NFL_Draft\">2001 NFL Draft<\/a>. Tomlinson was selected to five <a title=\"Pro Bowl\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pro_Bowl\">Pro Bowls<\/a>, was an <a title=\"All-Pro\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/All-Pro\">All-Pro<\/a> six times, and won two <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"List of NFL rushing champions\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/List_of_NFL_rushing_champions\">rushing titles<\/a> (<a title=\"2006 San Diego Chargers season\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2006_San_Diego_Chargers_season\">2006<\/a> and<a title=\"2007 San Diego Chargers season\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2007_San_Diego_Chargers_season\">2007<\/a>). At the time of his retirement, he ranked fifth in <a title=\"List of National Football League rushing yards leaders\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/List_of_National_Football_League_rushing_yards_leaders\">career rushing yards<\/a> (13,684), seventh in all-purpose yards (18,456), second in <a title=\"List of National Football League rushing touchdowns leaders\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/List_of_National_Football_League_rushing_touchdowns_leaders\">career rushing touchdowns<\/a> (145), and third in total touchdowns (162). He currently serves as an analyst on <a title=\"NFL Network\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/NFL_Network\">NFL Network<\/a>. After being elected to the <a title=\"College Football Hall of Fame\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/College_Football_Hall_of_Fame\">College Football Hall of Fame<\/a> in 2014, Tomlinson was inducted into the <a title=\"Pro Football Hall of Fame\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pro_Football_Hall_of_Fame\">Pro Football Hall of Fame<\/a> in August 2017, his first year of eligibility.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tomlinson played <a title=\"College football\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/College_football\">college football<\/a> for <a title=\"Texas Christian University\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Texas_Christian_University\">Texas Christian University<\/a> (TCU), earned consensus <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"All-American\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/All-American\">All-American<\/a>honors, and was recognized as the best college running back. He spent nine seasons with the Chargers. During the <a title=\"2006 NFL season\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2006_NFL_season\">2006 NFL season<\/a>, he set several NFL <a title=\"Touchdown\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Touchdown\">touchdown<\/a> scoring records and received numerous honors and awards including the <a title=\"National Football League Most Valuable Player Award\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/National_Football_League_Most_Valuable_Player_Award\">NFL&#8217;s Most Valuable Player Award<\/a> and the <a title=\"Associated Press\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Associated_Press\">Associated Press<\/a>&#8216;s <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"National Football League Offensive Player of the Year Award\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/National_Football_League_Offensive_Player_of_the_Year_Award\">Offensive Player of the Year Award<\/a>. In 2010, he signed as a free agent with the <a title=\"New York Jets\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/New_York_Jets\">New York Jets<\/a>, playing for two seasons before retiring after 2011.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-13050\" src=\"https:\/\/myboysay.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/download.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"266\" height=\"189\" \/>Tomlinson is often referred to by his initials, L.T.<span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px; line-height: 20px;\">\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0An effective passer on <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Halfback option\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Halfback_option\">halfback option<\/a> plays, Tomlinson threw seven touchdown passes and ranks second behind <a title=\"Walter Payton\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Walter_Payton\">Walter Payton<\/a> (8) for non-<a title=\"Quarterback\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Quarterback\">quarterbacks<\/a> since the<a title=\"AFL\u2013NFL merger\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/AFL%E2%80%93NFL_merger\">AFL\u2013NFL merger<\/a> in 1970.<span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px; line-height: 20px;\">\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0He was named to the <a title=\"National Football League 2000s All-Decade Team\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/National_Football_League_2000s_All-Decade_Team\">NFL&#8217;s 2000s All-Decade Team<\/a> as one of the top running backs of the 2000s.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tomlinson was born to Loreane Chappelle and Oliver Tomlinson in <a title=\"Rosebud, Texas\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rosebud,_Texas\">Rosebud, Texas<\/a>. His father left the family and moved to his mother&#8217;s home after being severely injured during a working project when Tomlinson was seven years old.<span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px; line-height: 20px;\">\u00a0<\/span>Tomlinson did not see his father very often afterwards, but always had a long distance relationship.<span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px; line-height: 20px;\">\u00a0<\/span>His mother worked two jobs and also was a minister. At age nine, Tomlinson joined the <a title=\"Pop Warner Little Scholars\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pop_Warner_Little_Scholars\">Pop Warner Little Scholars<\/a> football program and scored a touchdown the first time he touched the ball.<sup id=\"cite_ref-LPG_5-1\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tomlinson attended <a title=\"University High School (Waco, Texas)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/University_High_School_(Waco,_Texas)\">University High School<\/a> in <a title=\"Waco, Texas\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Waco,_Texas\">Waco, Texas<\/a>, where he played <a title=\"Basketball\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Basketball\">basketball<\/a>, <a title=\"Baseball\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Baseball\">baseball<\/a>, football, and ran track. Tomlinson began his <a title=\"High school football\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/High_school_football\">football<\/a> career as a <a title=\"Linebacker\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Linebacker\">linebacker<\/a>, but blossomed on the offensive side of the ball. Tomlinson amassed 2,554 yards and 39 touchdowns his senior year, earning honors as the District 25-4A Most Valuable Player, Super Centex Offensive Player of the Year.<span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px; line-height: 20px;\">\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0He was named in the state all-star football team in 1997, which included future San Diego teammates <a title=\"Drew Brees\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Drew_Brees\">Drew Brees<\/a> (<a title=\"Westlake High School (Texas)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Westlake_High_School_(Texas)\">Austin Westlake<\/a>) and <a title=\"Quentin Jammer\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Quentin_Jammer\">Quentin Jammer<\/a> (<a title=\"Angleton High School\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Angleton_High_School\">Angleton<\/a>).<span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px; line-height: 20px;\">\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0In <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Track &amp; field\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Track_%26_field\">track &amp; field<\/a>, Tomlinson competed as a <a title=\"Sprint (running)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sprint_(running)\">sprinter<\/a> and was a member of the Waco University <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"4 x 100 metres relay\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/4_x_100_metres_relay\">4 \u00d7 100 m<\/a> (41.82s) relay squad.\u00a0<sup id=\"cite_ref-11\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>Tomlinson was an avid <a title=\"Dallas Cowboys\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dallas_Cowboys\">Dallas Cowboys<\/a> and <a title=\"Miami Hurricanes\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Miami_Hurricanes\">Miami Hurricanes<\/a> fan during his youth. He idolized <a title=\"Walter Payton\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Walter_Payton\">Walter Payton\u00a0<\/a>and admired <a title=\"Emmitt Smith\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Emmitt_Smith\">Emmitt Smith<\/a>, <a title=\"Jim Brown\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jim_Brown\">Jim Brown<\/a>, <a title=\"Barry Sanders\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Barry_Sanders\">Barry Sanders<\/a>.<sup id=\"cite_ref-13\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tomlinson accepted an <a title=\"Athletic scholarship\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Athletic_scholarship\">athletic scholarship<\/a> at <a title=\"Texas Christian University\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Texas_Christian_University\">Texas Christian University<\/a> in <a title=\"Fort Worth, Texas\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fort_Worth,_Texas\">Fort Worth, Texas<\/a>, then a member of the <a title=\"Western Athletic Conference\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Western_Athletic_Conference\">Western Athletic Conference<\/a> (WAC). He played for the <a title=\"TCU Horned Frogs football\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/TCU_Horned_Frogs_football\">TCU Horned Frogs<\/a> from 1997 to 2000. Prior to Tomlinson&#8217;s arrival, TCU had appeared in only one bowl game in the previous 12 seasons (and two in the previous 34), and had recently been &#8220;downgraded&#8221; to a minor conference (the WAC) after the breakup of the <a title=\"Southwest Conference\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Southwest_Conference\">Southwest Conference<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>During Tomlinson&#8217;s freshman and sophomore years, he split time with <a title=\"Basil Mitchell (American football)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Basil_Mitchell_(American_football)\">Basil Mitchell<\/a>. In the 1998 season he helped the Horned Frogs to their first bowl win in 41 years against the <a title=\"USC Trojans football\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/USC_Trojans_football\">USC Trojans<\/a> in the <a title=\"1998 Sun Bowl\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/1998_Sun_Bowl\">Sun Bowl<\/a>.<span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px; line-height: 20px;\">\u00a0<\/span>During his junior season in 1999, he set an <a title=\"National Collegiate Athletic Association\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/National_Collegiate_Athletic_Association\">NCAA<\/a> FBS record for most rushing yards in a single game with 406 against\u00a0<a title=\"UTEP Miners football\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/UTEP_Miners_football\">UTEP<\/a>; the record stood until 2014, when <a title=\"Wisconsin Badgers football\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wisconsin_Badgers_football\">Wisconsin<\/a>&#8216;s <a title=\"Melvin Gordon\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Melvin_Gordon\">Melvin Gordon<\/a> rushed for 408 yards<span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px; line-height: 20px;\">\u00a0<\/span>which was subsequently broken only one week later by <a title=\"Oklahoma Sooners football\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Oklahoma_Sooners_football\">Oklahoma<\/a>&#8216;s<a title=\"Samaje Perine\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Samaje_Perine\">Samaje Perine<\/a> after running for 427 yards against Kansas.<span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px; line-height: 20px;\">\u00a0<\/span>Tomlinson finished his season with an NCAA-leading 1,850 yards rushing to go along with 18 touchdowns.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In his senior season in 2000, Tomlinson led the NCAA for the second time with 2,158 yards and 22 touchdowns, and was recognized as a unanimous first-team All-American.\u00a0<sup id=\"cite_ref-17\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup> He won the <a title=\"Doak Walker Award\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Doak_Walker_Award\">Doak Walker Award<\/a> as the nation&#8217;s best running back, and was a finalist for the <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"2000 Heisman Trophy\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2000_Heisman_Trophy\">2000 Heisman Trophy<\/a>, but came in fourth in the voting. He completed his college career with 5,263 rushing yards, ranking sixth in NCAA Division I history.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The school retired his jersey (No. 5) during halftime of a November 2005 game against <a title=\"UNLV Rebels football\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/UNLV_Rebels_football\">UNLV<\/a>.<span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px; line-height: 20px;\">\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0In December of that year, Tomlinson fulfilled a promise to his mother by earning his degree in communications from TCU.\u00a0He was inducted into the <a title=\"College Football Hall of Fame\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/College_Football_Hall_of_Fame\">College Football Hall of Fame<\/a> on December 9, 2014.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><sup id=\"cite_ref-21\" The Chargers possessed the draft&#8217;s first selection, but traded the pick to the <a title=\"Atlanta Falcons\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Atlanta_Falcons\">Atlanta Falcons<\/a>, who drafted <a title=\"Michael Vick\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Michael_Vick\">Michael Vick<\/a>.<span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px; line-height: 20px;\">\u00a0<\/span>In this way, many consider that Vick and Tomlinson were &#8220;traded&#8221; for each other, although the transaction was actually the result of traded draft picks.\u00a0<sup id=\"cite_ref-Tomlinson.2C_Vick_22-1\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>In exchange for San Diego&#8217;s first draft pick, with which Atlanta selected Vick, the Chargers received Atlanta&#8217;s #5 pick (used to draft Tomlinson), Atlanta&#8217;s third-round (67th overall) pick, which San Diego used to select <a title=\"Tay Cody\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tay_Cody\">Tay Cody<\/a>, and Atlanta&#8217;s second-round pick in 2002, which San Diego would use to select <a title=\"Reche Caldwell\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Reche_Caldwell\">Reche Caldwell<\/a>.<span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px; line-height: 20px;\">\u00a0<\/span>San Diego also received Atlanta&#8217;s wide receiver <a title=\"Tim Dwight\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tim_Dwight\">Tim Dwight<\/a>. He achieved immediate success in the NFL, rushing for over 1,200\u00a0yards and making over 50 receptions in each of his first seven seasons. He also proved to be an effective passer, completing eight career passes, seven of them for touchdowns and maintaining a career passer rating of 154.4.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><sup id=\"cite_ref-stats_25-0\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>Tomlinson ran for 1,236 yards on a 5\u201311 Chargers team in <a title=\"2001 San Diego Chargers season\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2001_San_Diego_Chargers_season\">his rookie season<\/a>.\u00a0<sup id=\"cite_ref-canepa_05232010_26-0\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>In 2003, he became the first player in NFL history to rush for 1,000\u00a0yards and record 100 receptions in the same season.<span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px; line-height: 20px;\">\u00a0<\/span>He also reached his 50th career touchdown in his 4th season (60th game) and was elected to the <a title=\"Pro Bowl\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pro_Bowl\">Pro Bowl<\/a> team in <a title=\"2003 Pro Bowl\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2003_Pro_Bowl\">2002<\/a>, <a title=\"2005 Pro Bowl\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2005_Pro_Bowl\">2004<\/a>, <a title=\"2006 Pro Bowl\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2006_Pro_Bowl\">2005<\/a>, and <a title=\"2007 Pro Bowl\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2007_Pro_Bowl\">2006<\/a>. Tomlinson also tied <a title=\"Lenny Moore\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lenny_Moore\">Lenny Moore<\/a>&#8216;s all-time record for consecutive games scoring a TD (18).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>On October 16, 2005, in the Chargers&#8217; victory over the <a title=\"Oakland Raiders\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Oakland_Raiders\">Oakland Raiders<\/a>, LaDainian Tomlinson became the 7th player in NFL history to run, catch, and throw for a touchdown in the same game. Despite breaking his ribs towards the end of the 2005 season, LaDainian continued to play and finished the season with 1,462 rushing yards, 370 receiving yards, and a career high 20 touchdowns (18 rushing, 2 receiving). In 2005, he was nominated for the <a title=\"FedEx\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/FedEx\">FedEx<\/a> Ground Player of the Year Award. Tomlinson placed third behind <a title=\"Tiki Barber\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tiki_Barber\">Tiki Barber<\/a> and <a title=\"Shaun Alexander\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Shaun_Alexander\">Shaun Alexander<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In the <a title=\"2006 San Diego Chargers season\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2006_San_Diego_Chargers_season\">2006 season<\/a>, he set NFL records by scoring 14 touchdowns in a span of 4 games, 16 touchdowns in span of 5 games, and 19 touchdowns in a span of 6 games, including a franchise record 4 touchdowns in games against the <a title=\"San Francisco 49ers\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/San_Francisco_49ers\">San Francisco 49ers<\/a>, <a title=\"Cincinnati Bengals\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cincinnati_Bengals\">Cincinnati Bengals<\/a> and the <a title=\"Denver Broncos\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Denver_Broncos\">Denver Broncos<\/a>. He is the first to score three TDs in three straight games and became the first to score at least 3 in four straight games set the following week. Also, he became the second to have three games of four or more TDs in one season (Marshall Faulk became the first back in 2000). He became the fastest player ever to score 100 touchdowns. On November 19, 2006, Tomlinson accomplished the milestone in 89 games with 102, beating the previous record of 93 games held by Jim Brown and Emmitt Smith. On Dec. 3, 2006, Tomlinson became the first running back to rush for at least 1,236 yards in his first six NFL seasons (he has now done so in his first seven years as well). After the game, the usually mild-mannered Tomlinson blamed Patriots head coach <a title=\"Bill Belichick\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bill_Belichick\">Bill Belichick<\/a> for some New England players celebrating on the Chargers midfield logo at <a title=\"Qualcomm Stadium\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Qualcomm_Stadium\">Qualcomm Stadium<\/a> by mocking Charger <a title=\"Shawne Merriman\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Shawne_Merriman\">Shawne Merriman<\/a>&#8216;s <a title=\"Quarterback sack\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Quarterback_sack\">sack<\/a> dance. &#8220;They showed no class at all. Absolutely no class. And maybe that comes from the head coach,&#8221; said Tomlinson.<sup id=\"cite_ref-33\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>On January 5, 2007, Tomlinson was awarded with the NFL Most Valuable Player Award for his record-breaking season.<span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px; line-height: 20px;\">\u00a0<\/span>He was the runaway winner, receiving 44 of the 50 votes from a panel of nationwide sportswriters and broadcasters who cover the NFL. He ended the season with a career-low 1,110 rushing yards on a career-low 292 attempts and 11 touchdowns thanks to a three-touchdown performance in the final game of the 2008 season. After years of trying to conceive,<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px; line-height: 20px;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: inherit;\">LaTorsha became pregnant in 2009.\u00a0Tomlinson&#8217;s son, Daylen, was born on July 8, 2010.\u00a0<\/span><sup id=\"cite_ref-93\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><span style=\"line-height: inherit;\">In spite of Tomlinson&#8217;s tenacity on the football field, he is described as quiet and humble.<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>In 2007, LaDainian&#8217;s father Oliver Tomlinson and brother-in-law Ronald McClain died in an auto accident.\u00a0Tomlinson, who had a &#8220;great relationship&#8221; with his father, was devastated by the tragedy.\u00a0<sup id=\"cite_ref-96\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>Tomlinson has been featured in several commercials for <a title=\"Nike, Inc.\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nike,_Inc.\">Nike<\/a>, <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Campbell Soup\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Campbell_Soup\">Campbell Soup<\/a> and <a title=\"Vizio\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Vizio\">Vizio<\/a>.\u00a0As late as 2005, he was wearing Nike Zoom Air football cleats (size 13\u00bd).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><sup id=\"cite_ref-98\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>In April 2007, Tomlinson turned down a request to become the cover athlete and official <a title=\"Spokesperson\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Spokesperson\">spokesperson<\/a> for <a title=\"EA Sports\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/EA_Sports\">EA Sports<\/a>&#8216; <i><a title=\"Madden NFL 08\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Madden_NFL_08\">Madden NFL 08<\/a><\/i> video game.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tennessee Titans quarterback <a title=\"Vince Young\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Vince_Young\">Vince Young<\/a> was eventually selected for the cover.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In August 2012, Tomlinson joined the cast of NFL Network&#8217;s Sunday morning show &#8220;First on the Field&#8221; as an analyst. In 2013, he also became the host and judge to determine the &#8220;Top 5 Running backs&#8221; of each week.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tomlinson wrote the foreword for <a class=\"new\" title=\"Chris Tomlinson (journalist) (page does not exist)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Chris_Tomlinson_(journalist)&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\">Chris Tomlinson<\/a>&#8216;s book, <i><a class=\"new\" title=\"Tomlinson Hill (book) (page does not exist)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Tomlinson_Hill_(book)&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\">Tomlinson Hill<\/a><\/i>, which traces the story of two families\u2014one white and one black\u2014from a plantation in<a title=\"Tomlinson Hill, Texas\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tomlinson_Hill,_Texas\">Tomlinson Hill, Texas<\/a>. The <a title=\"Plantations in the American South\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Plantations_in_the_American_South\">plantation<\/a> was owned by Chris&#8217; great-great-grandparents, while LaDainian descended from a slave owned by Chris&#8217; ancestors.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><sup id=\"cite_ref-100\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>The San Diego Chargers retired Tomlinson&#8217;s jersey and number during a halftime ceremony on November 22, 2015. Tomlinson joined <a title=\"Lance Alworth\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lance_Alworth\">Lance Alworth<\/a>, <a title=\"Dan Fouts\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dan_Fouts\">Dan Fouts<\/a> and the late <a title=\"Junior Seau\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Junior_Seau\">Junior Seau<\/a> in that honor.
