For his efforts, he was named <i><a title=\"The Oklahoman\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Oklahoman\">The Oklahoman<\/a><\/i> Player of the Year and to the <i><a title=\"Tulsa World\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tulsa_World\">Tulsa World<\/a><\/i> Boys All-State First Team.<sup id=\"cite_ref-24\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup> His play attracted the attention of the new basketball head coach for Oklahoma, <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Jeff Capel\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jeff_Capel\">Jeff Capel<\/a>, who first heard of him through his brother, Taylor.<sup id=\"cite_ref-SkilledMimic_6-1\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup> That spring, Capel saw him play for the first time and was quickly impressed.<sup id=\"cite_ref-SkilledMimic_6-2\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup> Capel liked the fact that Griffin had not yet become a household name among recruiters and felt he was exactly the player he needed to rebuild the Oklahoma men&#8217;s basketball program with.<sup id=\"cite_ref-SkilledMimic_6-3\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup> Griffin had been considering <a title=\"Duke Blue Devils men's basketball\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Duke_Blue_Devils_men%27s_basketball\">Duke<\/a>, <a title=\"Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kansas_Jayhawks_men%27s_basketball\">Kansas<\/a>,<a title=\"North Carolina Tar Heels men's basketball\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/North_Carolina_Tar_Heels_men%27s_basketball\">North Carolina<\/a> and <a title=\"Texas Longhorns men's basketball\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Texas_Longhorns_men%27s_basketball\">Texas<\/a>,<sup id=\"cite_ref-SkilledMimic_6-4\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup> but his brother eventually sold him on joining Oklahoma when he raved about the direction of the Sooners and the chance to play together again for his home state.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Griffin committed to Oklahoma before the start of his senior season.<sup id=\"cite_ref-GriffinFollows_25-1\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup> He went on to average 26.8 points, 15.1 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 2.9 blocks per game as a senior while leading the team to a 26\u20133 record.<sup id=\"cite_ref-bio_4-1\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup> In a game against Oklahoma City Southeast, he finished with 41 points, 28 rebounds, and 10 assists.<sup id=\"cite_ref-OklahomaAll-State_26-0\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup> The Saints advanced through the playoffs, defeating <a title=\"Crescent, Oklahoma\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Crescent,_Oklahoma\">Crescent<\/a> in the quarterfinals and <a title=\"Foyil, Oklahoma\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Foyil,_Oklahoma\">Foyil<\/a> in the semifinals to earn a berth in the Class 2A state championship once again.\u00a0<sup id=\"cite_ref-Class2A3-10-07_27-0\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>On March 10, 2007, he played his final high school game in the state title game against <a title=\"Pawnee High School\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pawnee_High_School\">Pawnee High School<\/a>.<sup id=\"cite_ref-ScoutTimeline_17-1\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup> Griffin registered 22 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 blocks, as the Saints defeated Pawnee 81\u201350, winning their fourth straight state title.<sup id=\"cite_ref-SoonersTitle_7-2\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup> He was named the Class 2A state tournament MVP for the second consecutive year after averaging 26.6 points per game in the tournament.<sup id=\"cite_ref-bio_4-2\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup> During his four-year run, the Oklahoma Christian Saints posted a 106\u20136 overall record.<sup id=\"cite_ref-28\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Following Griffin&#8217;s senior year, he was named the Player of the Year by both the <i>Tulsa World<\/i> and <i>The Oklahoman<\/i>. He was also named to the Oklahoma Boys All-State First Team, <a title=\"EA Sports\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/EA_Sports\">EA Sports<\/a> All-American Second Team and <a title=\"Parade
