If you&#8217;re in the Los Angeles area, you might want to start looking for tickets to that night&#8217;s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, and if you&#8217;re elsewhere in the world, it might be time to look into travel accommodations:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>As a tribute to the larger-than-life Laker great, whose career with the organization produced three NBA Championships, the Los Angeles Lakers, STAPLES Center, and AEG organizations commissioned the creation of a 1,200 pound, nine-foot bronze statue of the NBA Hall of Fame member. O\u2019Neal\u2019s statue will be connected to STAPLES Center, suspended 10 feet above the ground, at Star Plaza.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>O\u2019Neal was a member of the Lakers from 1996-2004, leading the team to three consecutive NBA Championships from 2000-2002, winning the NBA Finals MVP award each time. A seven-time All-Star for the Purple &amp; Gold, O\u2019Neal was also named the NBA\u2019s Most Valuable Player in 2000.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>O&#8217;Neal joins Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wayne Gretzky, Chick Hearn, Oscar De La Hoya, Magic Johnson and Jerry West as Los Angeles sports greats immortalized with statues outside of Staples Center.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Shaq&#8217;s statue, though, will be unlike any of the others outside of the arena. Largely due to his ability to <a title=\"Slam dunk\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Slam_dunk\">dunk<\/a> the basketball, O&#8217;Neal also ranks 3rd all-time in field goal percentage (58.2%). O&#8217;Neal was elected into the <a title=\"Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Naismith_Memorial_Basketball_Hall_of_Fame\">Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame<\/a> in 2016.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>O&#8217;Neal is also an active businessman and investor. He was an active bond investor in the early 1990s but continued to wade into stocks and made investments in various companies such as <a title=\"General Electric\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/General_Electric\">General Electric<\/a>, <a title=\"Apple Inc.\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Apple_Inc.\">Apple<\/a>, and <a title=\"PepsiCo\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/PepsiCo\">PepsiCo<\/a>. O&#8217;Neal was looking to expand his business ventures with real-estate development projects aimed at assisting <a title=\"Orlando, Florida\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Orlando,_Florida\">Orlando<\/a> home owners facing <a title=\"Foreclosure\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Foreclosure\">foreclosure<\/a>. His plans involved buying the <a title=\"Mortgage loan\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mortgage_loan\">mortgages<\/a> of those who had fallen into foreclosure and then selling the homes back to them under more affordable terms. He would make a small profit in return, but wanted to make an investment in Orlando and help out homeowners.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In conjunction with <a class=\"new\" title=\"Boraie Development (page does not exist)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Boraie_Development&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\">Boraie Development<\/a>, O&#8217;Neal has developed projects in his hometown of <a title=\"Newark, New Jersey\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Newark,_New_Jersey\">Newark, New Jersey<\/a> including, CityPlex12 and <a title=\"One Riverview (Newark)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/One_Riverview_(Newark)\">One Riverview<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>O&#8217;Neal is on the <a title=\"Advisory board\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Advisory_board\">advisory board<\/a> for <a title=\"Tout (company)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tout_(company)\">Tout Industries<\/a>, a <a title=\"Social media\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Social_media\">social<\/a> video service <a title=\"Startup company\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Startup_company\">startup company<\/a> based in San Francisco. He received the position in return for breaking news of his NBA retirement on the service.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In September 2013, O&#8217;Neal became a minority owner of the Sacramento Kings.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In June 2015, O&#8217;Neal invested in technology startup Loyale3 Holdings Inc., a San Francisco brokerage firm whose website and mobile app enables companies to sell a piece of their <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Initial Public Offering\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Initial_Public_Offering\">IPOs<\/a> directly to small investors who put up as a little as $100 and also allows investors to regularly buy small amounts of shares in already public companies.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>O&#8217;Neal is an investor for <a title=\"ESports\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/ESports\">eSports<\/a> team <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"NRG Esports\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/NRG_Esports\">NRG Esports<\/a>.
