The last time Bubka watched Lavillenie compete indoors, the Frenchman ended up breaking his world record with his 6.16m clearance in Donetsk.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWe are very pleased with the commitment of Renaud Lavillenie,\u201d said meeting director Martin Seeber. \u201cCooperation with Sergey Bubka will also help us in conversations with other world-class pole vaulters. Of course, it also remains our goal for the best Germans to compete against the best athletes from around the world.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lavillenie has only competed in Berlin once before, and that was at the 2009 IAAF World Championships, where he took the bronze medal.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Other events set to feature in Berlin include the 60m, 60m hurdles, shot put and long jump, but one of the highlights will be the discus, rarely staged indoors and with hopes high that the world indoor best could be broken.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>MORE ABOUT RENAUD LAVILLENIE:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Renaud Lavillenie\u00a0(was born 18 September 1986) is a <a title=\"France\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/France\">French<\/a> <a title=\"Pole vault\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pole_vault\">pole vaulter<\/a>. He is the current <a title=\"List of world records in athletics\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/List_of_world_records_in_athletics\">world-record<\/a> holder, with a height of 6.16 metres (20 ft <span class=\"frac nowrap\">2 <sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">1<\/span><\/sup>\u2044<sub><span style=\"font-size: small;\">2<\/span><\/sub><\/span> in) set indoors on 15 February 2014.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lavillenie won the <a title=\"Gold medal\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gold_medal\">gold medal<\/a> at the <a title=\"2012 Summer Olympics\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2012_Summer_Olympics\">2012 Olympics<\/a>. Apart from his Olympic victory, he has won one <a title=\"IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/IAAF_World_Indoor_Championships_in_Athletics\">World Indoor Championships<\/a> gold medal, three <a title=\"European Athletics Championships\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/European_Athletics_Championships\">European Championships<\/a> gold medals and three <a title=\"European Athletics Indoor Championships\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/European_Athletics_Indoor_Championships\">European Indoor Championships<\/a> gold medals. He has also won one <a title=\"Silver medal\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Silver_medal\">silver medal<\/a> and two <a title=\"Bronze medal\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bronze_medal\">bronze medals<\/a> at the <a title=\"IAAF World Championships in Athletics\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/IAAF_World_Championships_in_Athletics\">World Championships<\/a>. \u00a0As of 15 February 2014, he holds the French <a title=\"French records in athletics\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/French_records_in_athletics\">national records<\/a> for the highest pole vault clearance both outdoors (6.02 m) and indoors (6.16 m). He has been the pole vault overall winner of the <a title=\"IAAF Diamond League\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/IAAF_Diamond_League\">IAAF Diamond League<\/a> in four consecutive years, from 2010 to 2013.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Outside pole vaulting, Lavillenie is a keen motorcyclist, and raced in the 2013 edition of the <a title=\"24 Hours of Le Mans (motorcycle race)\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/24_Hours_of_Le_Mans_(motorcycle_race)\">Le Mans 24 Hours for motorcycles<\/a>, finishing 25th.
