Serena Williams vs Elena Dementieva match was a great one. The ladies left everything on the court in this 2hr 49 mins three setter. It was the longest semi-final womens match. This was a quality match with hard hitting & drama. I was sitting on the edge of my seat. Dementieva won the 1st set 7-6. The second set continued with the same intensity, the score was tied at 5 then Serena broke Elena’s serve, she went on to win the 2nd set 7-5. Watching the match you thought you had seen it all but believe it or not the intensity went up another notch. Serena lost her serve the 4th game of the 3rd set, the score was 3-1 Dementieva, Serena broke back, then won her serve, the game is back on serve 3-3. Dementieva broke back now it’s 5-4 Dementieva is serving for the match, Serena holds on and breaks back, then holds serve, it now 5-5. Elena holds serve it’s 6-5. Serena is serving for the tiebreaker. In the tiebreaker Serena broke Elena’s serve then serves for the match winning the final set 8-6. What a match, 45 winners and 20 aces. Serena is in Wimbledon Final.
Venus played world’s #1 Dinara Safina in the next Semi-Final. This match was merely a workout for Venus as she totally demolished Safina 6-0 6-1.
The Final is set for Sat. July 4th, in the all Williams final.
