On July 18, 2014,  Michael Jordan, the billionaire owner of the Charlotte Hornets,  made a tremendous  acquisition and decision,  in putting together a contract that was good for both the Hornets and also,  Stephenson, who  was signed with the Charlotte Hornets to a reported three-year, $27 million contract.  On October 29, 2014, he made his debut for the Hornets in their season opening game against the Milwaukee Bucks. In just under 40 minutes of action, he recorded 7 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists in the 108-106 overtime win.   Tonight,  in a great overtime win, with the Charlotte Hornets playing against the Atlanta Hawks,  Lance Stephenson made a 33-footer jump shot off the glass in double overtime to lift the Charlotte Hornets to a 122-119 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night. Also,  the charlotte Hornets center,  Al Jefferson,  scored a season-high 34 points, Gary Neal added 23 points off the bench for the Hornets (3-3). Stephenson had his first double-double with the Hornets with 17 points and 13 rebounds, and the Hornets snapped a six-game losing to the Hawks in Charlotte.

Note: This was a double overtime game where Stephenson started off the first overtime with a 3-point play, making a driving left hand layup and drawing a foul as he fell to the floor.
